Cinnamon candles as center pieces

Granted, cinnamon scented candles or non-scented pillar candles decorated with cinnamon sticks usually would be a classic Christmas decoration, however with time running out till thanksgiving I want to provide you with a little decorating tip for your thanksgiving table that is not only very quick to make but with a tight budget in mind super inexpensive.

Also, if you decide to only use this centerpiece as a decoration piece and not light the candles you can reuse them for your upcoming Christmas decorations.

Ok, here is what we will need:

Depending on the size of your pillar candles visit your local flower shop and purchase cinnamon sticks that are approximately as tall as your selected pillar candles (flower shops usually have the best selection, at least in my town).

Besides the cinnamon sticks you will also need the following:

  • Pillar candles (anywhere from 3 inches in diameter to as thick as you like, feel free to mix and match)
  • Floral shears
  • Glue Gun
  • Coaster
  • White or Red ribbons

Tools and Materials:

  • Pillar candle, at least 3-inches in diameter
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Floral shears or scissors
  • Hot-glue gun
  • Dish or coaster

Instructions:

1. Measure candle height then use scissors or floral shears to cut the cinnamon sticks to size. You will depending on the diameter of the candle need about 20 lengths per piece.

2. Run glue down cinnamon sticks; attach it upright to the side of a candle.

3. When the first cinnamon sticks is about to dry, bond next stick snugly against it and repeat until the entire pillar candle is covered.

4. In some cases I had problems keeping the cinnamon sticks in place. I guess the hot glue didn’t have is full desired effect but regardless if you tie a nice ribbon around the candle and sticks everything will stay in place and add a nice touch to this centerpiece. Also, once Christmas rolls around you can replace the ribbons with i.e. gold glittered ribbons for a more Christmas like flavor.

5. Finally, place the finished cinnamon candles on a dish or coaster.
