COLORFUL, FRAGRANT POTPOURRI, ALWAYS MAKES A COZY HOME

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Since I remember, my mother always had wonderful smelling potpourri around the house. Every month she would change the fragrance so the house would have a different inviting new smell! Sometimes it was a lovely gardenia scented potpourri and other times, lilac or merlot. Of course when I moved out and got my own home, this nice tradition became part of my life too! Now, all my children have moved out and I’m on my own. I needed to find a hobby to fill my empty days with and making something useful out of different looking and smelling potpourris, sounded like fun!
So, I sat down and brain stormed for a while and then I had an idea of making lovely fragrant potpourri balls made out of a sponge material. I started with digging out a 2 inch hole at the top of the sponge ball. Then I filled it with an essential oil for the sponge to absorb and boost up the aroma, before I covered it with colorful, fragrant potpourri. To finish it off I added a beautiful silk ribbon, so you could hang it, as either a lovely accent to your home or for giving a nice potpourri fragrance to all your clothes in your closet or drawers. I’m having a lot of fun plus I don’t have to worry about what to give for birthdays and Christmas’s anymore!

OUT WITH THE OLD CANDLES IN WITH THE NEW

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

I’ve been going through a divorce for about a year now, but finally I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I should have listened to my mother 5 years ago, when she told me that this marriage wouldn’t last, but I was in love! Hopefully I’ll learn from my mistakes and be more careful next time around. Anyway, my soon to be ex husband moved out last week and I couldn’t be happier about that!
But I tell you, even though he’d moved out… I was still very irritated and upset! My usual nightly routine, of lighting my favorite soothing vanilla scented candles, wasn’t working anymore. But then it hit me, could it be that the Vanilla scented Candles remembered me of him? I got out my bleach and started disinfecting everything in the house, in hope to get rid of any vanilla candle “smell”.
Then I quickly went on the internet and ordered my second favorite candle fragrance…Strawberry scented candles with essential oils to get the true strawberry aroma. When they arrived I lit all of the candles and once the mouthwatering strawberry scent filled the air… I felt all my aggravations, just run out of my body and fill me with a sense of calmness and joy. So, out with the old husband and in with my new favorite Strawberry Scented Candles!

Lots of fruit and Fruit Scented Wax Tarts go hand in hand!

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Me and all my girlfriends have finally finished our three month diet plan! Now,we all decided we need to celebrate all the weight we lost by throwing a “finally skinny” party. But we don’t want to gain any weight back,so a “low fat” menu is on the agenda. One of my girlfriends had this great idea that the accent should be on fruit, lots of different kinds of fruit. Another girl said; how about Fruit Scented Wax Tarts and Wax Melts as a perfect addition to our party.

Tart burner the official office solution

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

The other day I walked into my office and was assaulted by a horrible smell. The carpets had been cleaned the weekend before and I guess it just didn’t have time to dry. So really my office smelled like wet dog. I was able to open the window but it really wasn’t doing the trick. I had just gotten some new tart burners in and this was their perfect test.

After about 15 minutes of lighting the wax diffuser the smell started to subside. I had people walking down the hallway begging me for my solution. Little did they know I had my little trick sitting right next to my monitor. I just smiled and said, oh it must be my perfume.

Scented Candles vs Incense

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

There has always been debate on which is better,
scented candles or incense. Well a debate for those people who like to have a signature scented home.

A long time ago in my adolescents I loved incense. It definitely had a vibe to it that is hard to explain. I think it was the smoke effect that did it, until you set off the fire alarm. Incense was also pretty messy because of the ash from burning it, and should never be left unattended.
