It’s lit candles instead of firework for us this year!

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Unfortunately this 4th of July will be spent at home with lit Outdoor Candles instead of enjoying fireworks with our grandchildren at the beach. When our kids and grandkids showed up about two weeks ago, I knew that trouble was on the horizon.

My grandson’s was carrying a new skateboard under his arm! Out of the corner of my eye I can see my husband galloping towards our grandson and before I had time to yell; No, Honey that skateboard is not for you, he was already on it. Well, it took exactly five seconds for my husband to show off his “not so hot” skateboard skills, because about 20 min. later we are in the emergency room with a broken ankle.

Forget Pot Luck, let’s have a “Candle” Party!

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

I decided to throw a totally different party for all my friends this year. I was really tired of doing the same thing year after year, with my usual list of; who is suppose to bring the potato salad, who is going to bring the dessert and so on. Boooring!!! It took me a while to think of a new topic for my party, but then it suddenly hit me. Everybody loves candles, why not have everyone bring one or two candles each, to my Candle Party instead!

Paco Rabanne scented candles is the only scent for me

Friday, June 13th, 2008

About a year ago I met the man of my dreams! He is in the army and was sent to serve in Iraq less than a month ago. He did the most romantic thing, the evening before his departure that no other man has ever done for me before. After I came home from work that evening, he took my hand and led me into the bathroom where he had made a wonderful bubble bath. Around the the bathtub he had placed Paco Rabanne Scented Candles which is both his and my favorite after shave cologne and a bottle of my favorite champagne.

Oprah candles

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

I’ll admit, I am a closet Oprah lover and I am doing well hiding it from my husband but once a year I have to come out of the closet and let the truth set me free. And that time is when Oprah announces her yearly “Favorite things”.

This year I am especially thrilled about her favorite things because not only does it have chocolate on it (Artisan-made chocolates, go ahead they look tasty) but even more important: Scented Candles, to be more precise Mayan Tuberose candles. Granted I didn’t know about these so called Mayan Tuberose candles until today, but I can’t wait to place an order to test them for you guys, or if you have used them before please let us know your thoughts.

Designer Scented Candles, Especially by Nina Ricci, brings back Memories

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

When my mother died, and the years passed, and her memory grow fader and fader, all that seemed to bring her instantly back to me, was her wonderful perfume by Nina Ricci called “Lair du Temps”. Unfortunately, the last bottle of her perfume had finally dried completely out and the wonderful fragrance was almost gone. I had considered buying another bottle, but since I don’t use that perfume, I never got around to it.

Open Flame Candle-No!No! Flame less Candle-Yes!Yes!

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Guess I didn’t think much about it, but after I got my new little kitten and we spent our first weekend together, I had a total scare. Usually on Saturday nights, me and my boyfriend have a romantic candle lit dinner, nothing fancy, just some relaxing time before we hit the party scene. Everything was going fine until I hear my boyfriend yell out, “you’re cat’s on fire”!! First I thought he was joking, but the kittens tail had caught on fire by one of my open flame candles.

Keep the fire burning even with the wind

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

My husband, “the always going to the beach when a long weekend comes around”, was running late from an out of town business meeting. He kindly asked me over the phone if I, his loving wife could take care of the packing of all the beach equipment we needed, like the tent, chairs, towels, candle lanterns, and hurricane candle holders and so on. Of course I answered him with a loud “yippy”, finally he has given me this great reasonability and I was going to make him proud. How hard could it be, I’ we watched him pack so many times.

Ideas for candle centerpieces

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

June is always a very hectic month for me because, first I have my wedding anniversary, then Father’s Day, then my birthday and then my in-laws wedding anniversary. But this year June is going to be extra special, because it’s our 25th wedding anniversary, my 50th birthday and my in-laws 45th wedding anniversary. Can it get any more hectic than that? Sometimes I wish I would have thought about that before I set my wedding date 25 years ago. Anyway, I was looking into doing something a little easier with my special candle centerpieces this year.

Summer is wedding season

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

My daughter is getting married this summer at the end of July, and she wants that perfect beautiful summer wedding, every girl dream of. I and my daughter’s future mother in-law are trying to stay out of the wedding plans as much as we can, and will only help when we are asked to. It’s hard for both of us; because we feel that we have so much positive input we can provide for her. Well anyway, we were allowed to check out her what to do “wedding list” and we both noticed that she had completely forgotten to write down wedding candles. Here was our chance to get somewhat involved without my daughter getting all upset, after all, she was the one who forgot about all the wedding candles.

Memorial Day Parties Backyard BBQs and Beach bashes

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

This year I have decided to do something different for Memorial Day! We always have my in-laws coming visiting every year, and sometimes it doesn’t turn out so great, especially between me and my mother in-law. It always seems to be something stupid we fight over which is not even worth mentioning. I’m sure there are some of you out there who feel the same. But, anyway, I hope this doesn’t sound to mean, but I’m thinking about having a Beach bash, instead of our traditional backyard BBQ, because I know my Mother in-law hates the beach so therefore maybe they won’t come.
