Keep the fire burning even with the wind
My husband, “the always going to the beach when a long weekend comes around”, was running late from an out of town business meeting. He kindly asked me over the phone if I, his loving wife could take care of the packing of all the beach equipment we needed, like the tent, chairs, towels, candle lanterns, and hurricane candle holders and so on. Of course I answered him with a loud “yippy”, finally he has given me this great reasonability and I was going to make him proud. How hard could it be, I’ we watched him pack so many times.
Well, everything seemed to be fine, the tent, all the beach chairs plus blankets, the children’s toys, food, drinks, nothing was missing, until it started to get dark. I guess I kind of knew, somewhere deep inside of me that there was going to be something I forgotten and I promise, I’ll never make this mistake again! I forgot all the light equipment, even the candle lanterns, and the hurricane candle holders. Who would have known that those hurricane candle holders and candle lanterns would be so tuff and so sad to be without? Not only did we not have any light, the whole romantic setting was gone too!!
Unfortunately, we both had had some beers with our dinner, so driving to buy some candle lanterns and, or hurricane Candle Holder was out of the question! And admitting you had forgotten something, by going around asking some close by neighbors for one or two candle lanterns, was certainly out of the question!! So, all I had, where some regular candles, and those where impossible to keep lit, with the constant wind blowing. Isn’t that something, you don’t realize how much you need something, when you suddenly don’t have it. So, the next time I’ll get the honor of packing for our beach trip, if there’ll be a next time, I have decided to keep an already packed bag of hurricane candle holders and candle lanterns at all times, in the back of the car.
Smart haa!!!
