Memorial Day Parties Backyard BBQs and Beach bashes

June 3rd, 2008

This year I have decided to do something different for Memorial Day! We always have my in-laws coming visiting every year, and sometimes it doesn’t turn out so great, especially between me and my mother in-law. It always seems to be something stupid we fight over which is not even worth mentioning. I’m sure there are some of you out there who feel the same. But, anyway, I hope this doesn’t sound to mean, but I’m thinking about having a Beach bash, instead of our traditional backyard BBQ, because I know my Mother in-law hates the beach so therefore maybe they won’t come.

Spend some time on making candles for Mothers Day

June 3rd, 2008

My daughter came home from school just the other day, and she had a candle making kit with her that she had won, for writing the best Mothers’ Day story in class. Nor was I just not incredible proud of her, I got really interested in candle making, after I checked out her new candle making kit. I have to admit that I have always wanted to get some candle supplies, like candle wax and molds, to try to make homemade candles, but just haven’t gotten around to it. So, my beautiful daughter had this great idea, that we should take some time out for making candles on Mother’s Day this year.

Citronella candles the classic outdoor accessory

June 3rd, 2008

It seems like I have to take out my special outdoor candles and citronella candles earlier and earlier each year!! Maybe it sounds strange to talk about citronella candles to some of you this early in the season, but I live in Texas.

Feeling unsafe lightening a candle try this alternative flameless candles

June 3rd, 2008

I had a bit of a scare a month ago which has kind of lingered with me since it happened. I had a romantic evening with my boy friend and the evening ended up with one of my candles burning down to low and causing an ugly burn on my wood table. I thought that this is it for me and my beautiful, romantic candle evenings, because I certainly didn’t want to get that close to burning down my apartment ever again.

Wedding Season coming up Decorate appropriately

June 2nd, 2008

When I started planning my wedding, I knew that there was going to be a lot of things to deal with and plan. And on top of my list were of course my wedding dress, then the flowers, then the food and so on, and further down my list I had written down candles. I had already picked out my Unity Candles but I thought that the rest of candles wouldn’t be a big deal, until I started looking in to it a little bit more serious. My goodness, the selection on what kind of beautiful wedding candles you can have for your wedding is huge.

Reed Diffusers vs Potpourri vs Scented Candles

June 2nd, 2008

Me and my girlfriends always fight over which one gets to use her favorite Scented Candles, reed diffusers, or potpourri for our intimate dorm parties. I mean, we can’t have lots of different aromas floating around the room; people will get dizzy, so we decided to have a contest. The one that would make the best argument for their favorite one would win, and get to use it at our parties for a whole month. Of course we got into a fight when we’re all trying to convince each other why one is better than the other.

Nights are getting longer light up your pool

June 2nd, 2008

I’m a candle connoisseur which means that I love candles and especially ones that are unique when it comes to their shape, style and quality. Summertime is the favorite time of the year for me, because it means that I can stay outside longer without having to freeze my but off.

And this is the time when I start to invest in all kinds of floating candles and floating pool candles, not only for my pool but for my ponds and slow dripping fountains too. It’s really amazing when I put half dozen of beautiful carnation floaters or so in the fish pond and the flickering lights cast shadows on my curios little goldfish swimming up to them for a quick nibble. I tell you, there is nothing more relaxing and soothing to watch then that, believe me.

Incense do you actually like them

June 2nd, 2008

When I smelled Incense for the first time, it kind of blew me away, I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. But to me the peculiar aroma carried me off to a strange, funky underground parlor deep inside Bangkok somewhere. The scents kind of expect you to see women with their faces covered, only to expose a pair of beautiful deep brown eyes and men dressed in sheets and turbans sitting with their legs crossed on big comfortable pillows.

Make your house glow

June 2nd, 2008

Do you ever notice when you watch one those decorating shows on HGTV or TLC that the rooms exude an outstanding glow? Now one might think the power of television took this dull old house and transformed it in 24 hours and with $200 into a house that can grace the covers of some serious design magazines. The power of TV is amazing but that’s not what’s making these transformed rooms glow, its the candles. These rooms are “fixed” during the day and end result is filmed at night allowing them to exploit the power of the candles.

Candle Gift Baskets

June 2nd, 2008

Gift baskets are great for all occasions. They make a perfect hostess gift but they also are great for birthdays, anniversaries, really anything. They come in sizes big and small, but should be unique to the giver as well as the receiver. As I am a candle lover, OK candle obsessive person, I love giving candle gift baskets. There are even some really great ones for kids.

Now you might think give candles to kids? Yes! I remember having this sun candle when I was about 10 years old and I was so happy just to have it as a decoration on my dresser! There are so many candles out there that are catered toward kids, who wouldn’t want the Pillsbury dough boy with donuts sitting next to their bed?
